Our Top Five Yard Projects for Spring

As the weather begins to warm up in Iowa, with it comes new blooms and the inspiration to spruce up our landscaping! There's nothing quite like putting in a little work to your yard now so that you can enjoy the serenity and beauty all spring and summer long.

We have rounded up five of our favorite yard projects to add to your spring bucket list for a lovely and luscious yard this year.

Adding Shrubs

A shrub is a medium to small sized perennial woody plant with stems that arise at or near the ground. Shrubs are an easy way to add height, color, texture, and variety to your yard. The addition of shrubs to your outdoor space is sure to inspire you all year long! The natural beauty will continue to bloom year after year. Some of our favorite yard shrubs include hydrangeas, azaleas, lilacs, and rose bushes.

Water Feature

Another wonderful way to spruce up your yard and add a touch of serenity to your landscaping are water features. Water features can be as elaborate as a swimming pool or as simple as a bird bath. We also love small waterfalls, fountains and garden ponds. Whichever feature fits your needs best, it's sure to elevate your space with movement and charm.

Sitting area

One of the most important steps in preparing your yard for spring is ensuring that you have a proper place to sit and enjoy all of your hard work! Adding patio furniture is one of the quickest ways to add a touch of class and elegance to your landscaping and also gives you the ability to enjoy all of your yard's allure. We love hosting outdoor parties and events all season long so a spot to relax with friends and family is the key.

Potted Plants

Whether you are adding potted flowers or potted greenery, potted plants are the perfect cherry on top! They add personality to your landscaping in a very simple way. They are wonderful because they can be conveniently moved around to fill in any gaps or spaces in your yard. Potted plants are perfect for front steps, porches, front yards, patios and backyards. They are versatile and look great everywhere. Don't forget to water and fertilize your potted plants as necessary.

Lighting

Last but not least, we highly recommend shedding some light on all of the beauty you have added to your landscaping! Illuminating accents come in various sizes and types and all of them add ambiance and functionality to your space. Not only can you entertain and enjoy your yard well after the sun goes down, the glow of the lights just adds such a dazzling, gorgeous touch. Some of our favorite lighting features include classic string lights, wall lights or ground solar lights!
